Lady and the Stamp
TV talk-show titan Oprah Winfrey gave Montecito first responders her seal of approval when she attended the unveiling of a new U.S. Postal Service stamp.
It includes a firefighter in red, a police officer in blue, and a paramedic in white, paying tribute to emergency personnel across America.
The ceremony, with Oprah unveiling the stamp at the Montecito Fire Protection District headquarters on San Ysidro Road, also specifically recognized local responders during the catastrophic Thomas Fire that burned more than 280,000 acres locally and the deadly January mudslides.
“We just want to say ‘thank you’ for living out loud what it means to be a hero,” Oprah declared. “Each of you represent the best of us.”
