Piatti honors the noble heirloom tomato during local harvest season with special menu featuring the New World’s most intriguing fruit-vegetable. General Manager Sarah Rudd promises that, “Our chef and wine buyer have researched each dish and paired them with wine that will complement all ingredients and flavors.” Even so, a full bottle of the house red – Piatti Merlot – is only $23, and that’s usually good enough for us!

Conceptual review of Richard Gunner’s planned renovation and construction at 1469 & 1498 East Valley Road (behind Montecito Coffee Shop) scheduled for today; Architect Don Nulty represents the owners. “Further conceptual review” of the redevelopment of the Miramar Hotel, consisting of 239,023 gross square feet of construction, 156,420 square feet of underground parking, 209 guest rooms, two restaurants, beach bar, pools, landscape, new 10-foot-high sound wall, 4 employee dwellings, abandonment of the north-south segment of Miramar Avenue, and relocation of private access easement. Current plans call for all existing structures to be demolished.
