July is National Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month and is an ideal time to think about adopting a rabbit. How about Speckles? According to Lesley Fagan, a volunteer at BUNS (Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter), Speckles is “one of the more handsome rabbits I have seen in a while.” This young adult male rabbit loves to have his head massaged and uses his litter box. As with most rabbits, Speckles would be happiest in an adult household or a home with children over the age of 7. For more information on adopting Speckles or any of the other rabbits available at BUNS, call (805) 683-0521 or stop by the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter at 5473 Overpass Road, off Patterson Ave. To meet other adoptable dogs, cats, and rabbits, visit www.allforanimals.com.
Bunny Basics Classes
To help you get acquainted with your new rescued rabbit, BUNS offers bi-monthly Bunny Basics classes. Participants will learn about bunny training and communication techniques, the proper diet of a rabbit, bunny health, handling, housing, and nail trimming. You'll even learn how to put your bunny into a trance! The next class will take place on Sunday, August 19 from 1:30 to 4 pm at Goleta Public Library, 500 N. Fairview Avenue. Be sure to BYOB (Bring Your Own Bunny!
Save The Date
The Bunny Festival is "hoppening" on Sunday, September 17 at the Courthouse Sunken Garden. If you would like to contribute an item for the silent auction (gift certificates to a local business or service, basket of goodies, or a special handmade item), please call Lesley at (805) 969-7339. All gifts are appreciated and proceeds from the sale of auction items will go toward spay and neuter surgeries for shelter rabbits.
