Masterclasses are featured on a multitude of instruments ranging from horns to bassoons and also vocals. Through a technique the Academy calls “learning through performance”, audience members can watch as students perform on stage and are subsequently critiqued by a teacher.

An Evening with Stephen Stills

Founding member of the 1960’s band Buffalo Springfield and member of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Stills performs in Santa Barbara with the 40th anniversary of The Summer of Love upon us. The two-time Rock n Roll Hall of famer performs with The Stephen Stills Band.

Nothing But Nets

This fundraiser’s purpose is to raise money to buy treated mosquito nets for families in Africa to help combat Malaria. One Hundred percent of proceeds go to the cause. Guitar music, hors d’ oeuvres and a silent auction are offered.

Concerto Night

For this performance, resident conductor of San Francisco Symphony Edwin Outwater leads performances by gifted winners of Music Academy of the West’s 2007 Concerto Competition. Prior to performance tickets are available for student winner’s rehearsal performance in which a full public showing will be given.
