Peabody’s has live music every Sunday featuring The Legrand Trio. Trio plays and sings to American jazz and popular music from the 1920s and ’30s.

Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club gets back into swing of things as 2007 polo season gets underway. Late spring session – which lasts through late June – brings matches featuring teams rated at 8-12 goals. Matches scheduled every Friday and Sunday at 1 pm and 3 pm.

Music Academy of the West
Music Academy of the West Board member Robert W. Weinman presents multimedia preview of the Music Academy’s upcoming Summer Festival. Featuring slides, video and discussion, presentation highlights notable Summer Festival events and programming including insights into the composers whose works will be performed throughout eight-week festival. The preview, which lasts approximately an hour and 15 minutes, is geared to both first-time festival-goers and seasoned patrons who want to know what is particularly exciting about this year’s musical offerings.

Tear Down This Wall
Young America’s Foundation presents “Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!,” a 20th anniversary celebration of President Ronald Reagan’s Berlin Wall address. Highlight of the celebration, to be held at the Reagan Ranch Center, will be evening reception followed by conversation between radio talk show host and author, Michael Medved and the man who wrote President Reagan’s famous speech, Peter Robinson.

David Post, author of “Nothing to See Here,” offers book signing at Tecolote Book Shop in the Upper Village. Montecito Planning Commission holds special retreat. Meeting includes training issues (legal/land use principles, new planning commission orientation needs, overview of documents); staff relationships (staff reports, presentation of projects, hearing support practices, recommendations to the board); commission meeting procedures (presentation times by applicants, ex-parte procedures, site visit procedures, continuances, decorum of meetings, motions, conditions); and commission policy considerations (presentations to the board, presentations by boards of architectural review to the commission and development of project conditions).
