The Season’s Finest on the Big Screen
Dressed and Ready, Susan Pitcher’s cutting edge women’s clothing and accessory boutique, welcomed patrons earlier this month to the store’s very first “movie night,” a cinematic look at fashion, runway shows, after-parties and, not to forget, shopping.
Pitcher produced a short film, “Cinema A La Mode 07,” with UCSB film studies graduates Ian Jay and Devon Hay, a venture she said was the perfect vehicle to translate her experiences of fashion in Paris and New York into real life.
Chairs were set up in the boutique theatre-style with windows blacked out and champagne and Perrier were available with popcorn and movie-sized candy boxes of Dots, Chocolate-covered raisins, M&Ms and Red Vines. The film included looks at the latest lines of Balenciaga, Chloé, Dsquared, Michael Kors, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Yigal Azrouel, Anna Sui and Helmut Lang. The range of the season stretches from Balenciaga’s lean, cyber goddesses to 3.1 phillip lim’s romantic florals.
“What is so wonderful about the film is that it provides clarity of each designer’s vision,” Pitcher said in an after-film moment. “There is absolutely something beautiful for everyone!”
The evening also premiered the launch of Pitcher’s updated websites, dressedonline.com and readyonline.com. New updates of the sites include a “looks we love section,” which features outfits styled by the boutiques’ staff, as well as coverage of store events and information about the styling and closet consulting services brought by Cassidy Noonan.
Some of the attendees for movie night were: Colette Eyers, Teri Lebow, Debbie Kass, Kerrie Kilpatrick-Weinberg, Laurie Kasch, Tracy Simerly, Nancy Barry, Hank Pitcher, Lisa Rottman, Christina Rottman and Ella Neyland.
