Adopt a Pet
By Karen Lee Stevens
Boris is a 4-year-old neutered male flat-coated Retriever mix. He enjoys the company of other dogs and adults, but is uneasy around young children. This 74-pound boy's favorite activities include playing fetch, snuggling and sitting at your feet. He is well behaved, has mastered several commands, and is great company, according to Bonnie Baker, a volunteer at the Dog Adoption and Welfare Group (DAWG).
Boris is waiting for a home at DAWG, a private, non-profit, no-kill dog rescue organization, owned and operated by volunteers and serving the lost and abandoned dogs of Santa Barbara. The kennels are located at 5480 Overpass Road (off Patterson Avenue, just beyond the County Animal Shelter).
All adoptable dogs have been treated with K9 Advantix flea/tick/mosquito protection, are spayed/neutered, have all current shots as well as a HomeAgain microchip, and can receive a complimentary consultation with DAWG's trainer, if needed.
DAWG'S Winter Hours are as follows: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays: 12 pm to 5 pm; all other times by appointment. For more information, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, call 681-0561 or visit www.sbdawg.com.
