Joining the board of trustees of the Montecito Community Foundation for 2006-07 is newly elected member Tom Thomas. Incoming officers are Joan Wells, president; Alice Van de Water, vice president; Sharol Siemens, secretary; and John Venable, treasurer.
Founded in 1966, the Community Foundation, a tax-deductible charity, grants funds for projects in Montecito, including the placement of wooded street signs.
“The signs, now being updated with reflective paint, have become more expensive, but we believe they present an attractive alternative to ordinary steel poles,” says Joan Wells. “They lend character to our community.”
Recent Community Foundation projects include funding materials for the Sheriff’s Department’s anti-graffiti efforts, grants to the Montecito Association’s Village Fourth annual celebration, and giving money for Montecito Union School’s new sidewalk project on San Ysidro Road.
Anyone interested in supporting the organization may send checks to the Montecito Community Foundation, P.O. Box 5001, Montecito, CA, 93150.
