A Parody of Charity
Honoring tenth anniversary of United Way Red Feather Ball, MJ columnist Erin Graffy has composed a light-hearted play that lampoons the fundraising process. A cast of six plus local piano virtuoso Gil Rosas bring to life a complete catalogue of American standard spoofs, including "As Dimes Roll By" and "I Get a Check out of You."

The Eli Luria Method
As part of Santa Barbara City College’s Adult Ed program, join Montecito artist, traveler and journalist J’Amy Brown to learn to sketch as way of recording your experiences. Brown combines her own vast know-how with methods of the late Eli Luria, beloved Montecito philanthropist and illustrator, cartoonist and sketch artist. Luria’s easy sketch method requires no skill but, as he always encouraged, allows you to “just get into the fun of it and do it from the heart, not the head.” Luria’s wife, Leatrice Luria, will also participate in the class. Award-winning photographer Sylvia Abualy will also be on hand to demonstrate ways to take travel photos that tell the story.

Tribute to Schwyzer
Members of the Pyron Master Class present musical tribute to their friend and colleague, Hubert Schwyzer, professor emeritus of philosophy at UCSB and frequent participant in the Pyron Master Class. Schwyzer died of cancer on June 22. Public is invited.
