Adopt a Pet
By Karen Lee Stevens
Huey is a handsome Lynx-point Siamese-Tabby mix with gorgeous markings and oh so beautiful baby blues. This big boy is friendly, energetic and curious. And, 3-year-old Huey loves attention, petting and scratching make him roll over in ecstasy. Because of his light coloring and pink nose, Huey should refrain from sunbathing outdoors.
If you're looking for a sweet, lively companion to brighten your days, stop by the Animal Shelter Assistance Program (ASAP) to meet Huey. ASAP is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that cares for cats and kittens awaiting adoption at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter. The facility is located at 5473 Overpass Road, off Patterson Avenue. For more information, call 683-3368. To view pictures of other adoptable dogs, cats and bunnies, visit www.allforanimals.com.
Can't adopt a cat right now, but would still like to help? Consider volunteering your time at ASAP Cats. Duties may include keeping cages sparkling clean, grooming and socializing the cats, or even providing a foster home for kittens who are too young to be adopted. For more information on volunteer opportunities, contact Kim Snyder at 681-4397 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
