Adopt a Pet
By Karen Lee Stevens
If Sherwin could talk, he would tell you that he's gentle, laidback, affectionate and he adores tummy rubs. This white and black, short-haired sweetheart is also good with children and other cats and has never met a lap he didn't like. Sherwin's guardian passed away recently, so he is eagerly searching for a new person or family to call his own.
If you're looking for a lap cat with a great personality, stop by the Animal Shelter Assistance Program (ASAP) to meet Sherwin. ASAP is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that cares for cats and kittens awaiting adoption at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter. The facility is located at 5473 Overpass Road, off Patterson Avenue. For more info call 683-3368. To view pictures of other adoptable dogs, cats, and bunnies, visit www.allforanimals.com.
Can't adopt right now, but would still like to help? Consider volunteering your time at ASAP Cats. Duties may include keeping cages clean, grooming and socializing the cats, or even providing a foster home for kittens who are too young to be adopted. For more information on volunteer opportunities, contact Kim Snyder at 681-4397 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
