Sporting a smattering of freckles, positively perky ears, and a joyful, puppy-like personality, Nemo is sure to capture any dog lover's heart. This one-year-old, 9-pound male Chihuahua mix plays happily with other dogs and adores people, according to DAWG volunteer and photographer extraordinaire, Bonnie Baker. Nemo will even climb into a welcoming pair of arms, stretch out on his back, and catch a few zzzzzzz’s before dashing off to join his doggy friends for a game of tug-of-war.

Nemo is one of several diminutive dogs available for adoption at Dog Adoption and Welfare Group (DAWG), a private, non-profit, no-kill dog rescue organization, owned and operated by volunteers, and serving lost and abandoned dogs. The kennels are located at 5480 Overpass Road (off Patterson Avenue just beyond the County Shelter).

All dogs are treated with K9 Advantix (flea/tick/mosquito protection), have been spayed/neutered, are current on all vaccinations, and have been implanted with a HomeAgain microchip. If needed, a consultation with DAWG's dog trainer is provided free of charge.

If you’re interested in meeting Nemo or any of his canine compadres, please stop by or call DAWG at 681-0561. DAWG's spring and summer hours are: Wednesday-Friday, 12 pm to 5 pm, Saturday-Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; other times by appointment. View other adoptable cats, dogs and bunnies at
